Technical data of OBD: Features

Data is transferred between control module and vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 in "self-diagnosis" mode.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) or fault memory is designed as a non -volatile memory and is thus independent of the power supply.
Stored faults are output following start of fault display. See FAULT MEMORY, INTERROGATING AND ERASING .
DTC memory must be erased after correcting fault. See FAULT MEMORY, ERASING .

NOTE:

If the engine control module detects faults detrimental to emission values, such faults are indicated by activation of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K83- in the instrument cluster. Function of the MIL -K83-. See EXHAUST EMISSIONS WARNING LAMP (MIL) IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
Faults of relevance to the electronic throttle are additionally indicated by the Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning lamp in the instrument cluster.
