If the steering wheel is properly centered (road test)

Bring the vehicle to a standstill - still keeping it in a straight line.
Perform zero position compensation. See ESP, CHECKING VIA ROAD TEST .
Take care not to move the steering wheel from this point onward.
Do not switch off the ignition.
