Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory, checking and erasing: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Audi A6, 2003 Audi A6, 2002 Audi A6, 2001 Audi A6, and 2000 Audi A6. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After erasing the DTC memory generate readiness code. See READINESS CODE, GENERATING .

Indicated on display

The display will show either the number of malfunctions stored or the message "No DTC recognized".

If no malfunction is stored:

NOTE:
  • If no malfunction is stored in the DTC memory, do not erase memory, otherwise readiness code must be generated.
  • If the DTC memory was erased, generate readiness code. See READINESS CODE, GENERATING .

If one or more malfunctions are stored:

The stored malfunctions will be displayed and printed out in sequence.

NOTE: If the ignition is switched off between checking DTC memory and erasing the DTC memory, the DTC memory will not be erased. It is therefore important to follow the procedure exactly, i.e. first check DTC memory and then erase it.

NOTE: During test and assembly work malfunctions can be recognized from other control modules, e.g. disconnected harness connectors. Therefore on completion the DTC memories of all control modules must be checked and erased. To do this perform automatic test sequence:
