Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 28 (Brown/Red wire) of instrument cluster Blue, 32-pin harness connector. See Figure . Roll vehicle forward and back a minimum distance of 4 ft. (1.2 m) each way. Resistance should alternate from zero ohms to infinity. If resistance is not as specified, check for open, poor connection or short in vehicle speed sensor circuit. If circuit is okay, replace vehicle speed sensor.
