Steering lock cylinder, removing and installing: Removing
- Remove steering column switches. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
For vehicles with automatic transmission, disengage the locking cable:
- Shift automatic transmission selector lever to "P."
- Turn ignition key to position -B- "ignition ON." See Fig 1 .
- Lift clip -1- slightly and pull lock cable -2- from ignition lock housing.
NOTE:
To remove the lock cylinder, the spare key or workshop key is needed. The following procedure is only possible with a flat key handle that does not have a key light or remote control.
- Insert spare key/workshop key into lock cylinder and turn to "ignition ON" position until you see the hole/opening in the lock plate.
- Insert steel wire (approx. 1.5 mm dia.) as shown to stop. Now pull out lock cylinder from the housing by turning it in direction of arrow -B-.
