On Board Diagnostic (OBD), initiating: Requirements:

Fuses according to wiring diagram must be OK
Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST). See VAG 1551, VAG 1552 SCAN TOOL (ST), CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS .

NOTE:

If the display remains blank, check voltage supply to VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) according to wiring diagram.
Additional operating instructions can be called up with the HELP button.
Use the button to advance through the program sequence.
A wrong input can be erased with the C button.
In operating mode 1 "Rapid data transfer," the function 00 "Automatic test sequence" can be performed. The DTC memory of all control modules with OBD capacity are checked automatically.

Switch ignition on.
Switch on printer with PRINT button (control light in button lights up).
Press button 1 for "Rapid data transfer" mode.

Indicated on display.

Press button.
If one of the messages in Fig 4-Fig 7 appear on the display, troubleshoot wiring to VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), troubleshoot circuit using wiring diagram.
