Lock cylinder for ignition/starter switch, removing and installing: Removing
- Remove steering column switches.
See STEERING COLUMN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- On vehicles with automatic transmission disengage interlock cable:
- Move selector lever to park position "P."
- Turn ignition key to "ignition on" position -B-. See Fig 1 .
- Lift interlock lever -1- slightly and pull lock cable -2- out of ignition lock housing.
NOTE:
The spare key or valet key is required for removing the lock cylinder. The following steps can only be performed with an ignition key which has a flat handle without a light or remote-control transmitter.
- Insert spare key or valet key into ignition lock and turn to "ignition on."
An opening or gap will appear in front of the lock next to the ignition key slot.
- Insert length of steel wire -1- (approx. 1.5 mm or .060 in. in diameter) as far as it will go. See Fig 2 .
- Pull lock cylinder out of steering lock housing -2- in direction of arrow.
