Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM): Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2005 Audi allroad, 2004 Audi allroad, 2004 Audi A6, 2003 Audi allroad, and 2003 Audi A6. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- The DTM can only be performed with the ignition switched on and the engine not running.
- The DTM is terminated if the engine is started or if an engine speed pulse is detected.
- During the DTM, individual control elements will be activated for approx. 1 minute (except for the injectors), or until the test program is advanced to the next control element by pressing the right arrow button.
- The control elements can be tested either by listening or by touching.
- If the DTM is to be repeated, the engine must be started. The engine control module needs to detect an engine speed of more than 300 rpm.
- The electric fuel pump runs continuously throughout the DTM.
- For vehicles with automatic/continuous transmission, an electrical vacuum pump sets in to support engine vacuum creation for brake booster.
- This vacuum pump is activated by the Engine Control Module (ECM) via a relay, if it is necessary.
- Activation of the relay (and therefore also for vacuum pump) can be checked via output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).
Relay activation:
- Relay activation (approx. 10 seconds) is ensured after activation of the Recirculating valve for turbocharger - N249- .
With output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) the following components are activated in the given order. This is valid for vehicles with engine code APB (vehicles with engine code BEL). See ACTIVATION SEQUENCE CHART .
ACTIVATION SEQUENCE CHART
| Activation sequence | |
|---|---|
| 1. | EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80- |
| 2. | Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- (This display appears only on vehicles with automatic transmission) |
| 3. | Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Relay -J299- (This display appears only on vehicles with automatic transmission) |
| 4. | Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75 |
| 5. | Camshaft adjustment |
| 6. | Leak Detection Pump for EVAP system |
| 7. | Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249 |
