Fuel gauge adaptation
NOTE:
- The adaptation only affects Reserve and has no affect on the "full" mark.
- The pointer of the fuel gauge must be positioned on the right red line (reserve) of the fuel gauge when the display shows OK.
- When the VAG 1551 Scan Tool is connected and the fuel gauge adaptation was selected, the "low fuel signal" is automatically deactivated.
- If only the VW1301 instrument/gauge tester is connected, the "low fuel signal" must be activated by switching the ignition off for 2 minutes.
- For the adaptation of the fuel gauge, the fuel sender -arrow- located under the luggage compartment cover must be disconnected.
- Switch off ignition.
- Connect VW1301 instrument/gauge tester to fuel gauge sender using jumper wire.
- Adjust tester VW1301 to value 470.
- Switch ignition on after 2 minutes (recognition of the "low fuel signal") and observe fuel gauge.NOTE: The fuel gauge is OK if the pointer is positioned at the right red mark (reserve) as shown.
- Press buttons 0 and 1.
- Press Q button to confirm input.
Indicated on display.
The adaptation value can now be entered in steps or directly.
NOTE: When entering a value higher than 255, the function "Adaptation" is ended and must be started again with function "10 Adaptation."Entering step-by-step:
- Using button 1, the adaptation value can be entered using button 3 down to value 0, and up to value 255. Example: 215.

- Press Q button to confirm input.

- By pressing the button, end the adaptation of the fuel gauge.

Entering directly:
- Press button.
- Indicated on display.
- Enter desired value with VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), entering the first digits with "0."
Example:
Desired value to be entered: 215
Enter value with ST: 00215
- Indicated on display.
- Press Q button to confirm input.
- Indicated on display.
- Press Q button to confirm input.
- Indicated on display.
- End adaptation by pressing the button.
