Instrument cluster technical features

The Audi A8 instrument cluster is equipped with an LCD display.

The following functions are displayed:

• Auto-check system with radio frequency and telephone data display
• Outside temperature display
• Multi-function indicator displays
• Transmission range display (automatic transmission)

The tachometer contains an LCD display for odometer, trip odometer and service indicator.

The illumination control of the instrument cluster depends on the surrounding light. The adjustment range of the automatic illumination can be adjusted using the plus and minus buttons.

The warning lights are arranged in three rows under the multi-function indicator display.

The instrument cluster is controlled by an internal microprocessor with On Board Diagnosis (OBD). If malfunctions occur in monitored sensors or components, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be stored in the memory of the instrument cluster control module. The DTCs can be read with the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST).

The following adaptation functions can also be performed:

• Adaptation of the fuel gauge indicator
• Correction of the fuel consumption display
• Coding of the applicable languages for multi-function indicator and for the Auto-check system
• Adaptation for the service indicator display
• Adaptation for the odometer in case the instrument cluster needs to be replaced.
