Removal & Installation (Rear Seat Back: Avant Split Rear Seat Backrest, From 1998)

1. For 1/3 backrest style, go to step  4. For 2/3 backrest style, remove rear seat cushion. See REMOVAL & Installation (Rear Seat Cushion) .
2. Disconnect harness connector to belt tensioner. Press catches (2) and disconnect harness connector (1) in direction of arrow. See Fig 1.

3. Remove bolt (14). See Fig 2. Remove bolt (8) and remove center mounting bracket clip (7). Lift rear backrest out of center mounting bracket (9) and pull toward center of car out of fitting (4).
4. For 1/3 backrest style, Remove bolt (8) and remove center mounting bracket clip (7). See Fig 2. Lift rear backrest out of center mounting bracket (9) and pull toward center of car out of fitting (4).
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
