WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
On A4, instrument panel consists of speedometer, odometer, tachometer, coolant and oil temperature gauges, clock, fuel gauge, voltmeter, warning lights, gear selector position display, outside temperature display, various control switches, Auto-Check and Mini-Check system. See Fig 1.
On Cabriolet, instrument panel consists of speedometer, odometer, tachometer and coolant temperature gauges, digital clock, fuel gauge, warning lights, gear selector position display, various control switches and Mini-Check system.
Auto-Check system monitors the condition of various vehicle systems. When a fault occurs in one of these systems, a symbol is displayed in the Auto-Check display window between the tachometer and speedometer.
