Centering Rear Axle
NOTE:
Rear axle must be centered whenever guide bushing is replaced or axle is removed.
NOTE:
Vehicle weight must be supported on the suspension, using a platform hoist or a pit to perform procedure.
Remove wheels, if not already removed. Install wheel bolts to hold brake rotors in place. Place straightedge on wheel mounting surface of brake rotor. Measure distance between straightedge and strut adaptor bead. See Fig 1 . Loosen guide bushing bolts and slide axle to center. Ensure difference is .08" (2 mm) or less between both sides. Use NEW guide bushing nuts. Install wheels. Adjust rear brake proportioning valve, if equipped. See REAR BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE . Tighten guide bushing nuts and bolts with vehicle weight on wheels. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
