NOTE:

Faults occurring in monitored sensors or components are stored in the fault memory together with an indication of the type of fault.
Faults of relevance to the electronic throttle are additionally indicated by the Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning lamp in the instrument cluster. For notes on the EPC system, refer to ELECTRONIC POWER CONTROL (EPC) SYSTEM .
Faults detrimental to emissions are indicated by an exhaust emissions warning lamp (MIL), also located in the instrument cluster. Certain faults cause the MIL to be activated as soon as they are detected. Other faults however may only lead to the MIL being activated if the fault is detected again when the engine is next started. For notes on the MIL, refer to EXHAUST EMISSIONS WARNING LAMP (MIL) IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
The fault table is arranged according to the 5 -digit fault codes on the left.
Sporadic faults are marked "sporadic" on the display. "Sporadic" faults are faults which only occur occasionally.
Do not immediately replace components indicated as being faulty by VAS 5051, but rather: Start by checking wiring and connectors to these components in line with the wiring diagram. Also use the wiring diagram to check Ground connections. This is particularly important if faults are output as being "sporadic".
