Disc & Drum: Description

All models have front disc brakes. On 4000CS Quattro and 5000CS Turbo and 5000CS Quattro models, rear disc brakes are used. On all other models, drum brakes are used on rear axle. Both front and rear brakes are self-adjusting.

Hydraulic system uses tandem master cylinder with either vacuum or hydraulic power assist. Tandem system on FWD models uses diagonal front and rear pairing so left front and right rear wheels form one circuit while right front and left rear wheels form the other circuit. On 4WD models, front wheels form one circuit while rear wheels form the other circuit.

Pressure regulator is used to prevent premature lock-up of rear wheels. Pressure regulator is adjustable, on all models except 4000CS Quattro. Cable-actuated parking brake mechanically applies rear brakes when handle is pulled up.
