Strut Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Mount spring tensioner in vise. Using Spring Tensioner (VW 340), compress spring. Using Shock Absorber Wrench (VW 524), remove slotted nut.
  2. Remove strut bearing, spring retainer, spring tensioner and individual strut components. Clamp strut tube assembly into a soft-jawed vise. Remove threaded cap and shock absorber. Inspect strut components, replace as necessary.
