System Warnings & Precautions

The following precautions must be followed when working on vehicles equipped with this system.

  1. Disconnect ABS control unit before using welding equipment on vehicle. If vehicle is being oven dried after painting, do not expose ABS control unit to temperatures above 185°F (85°C) for more than 2 hours.
  2. Never disconnect or connect ABS control unit, hydraulic modulator, or system relays with ignition on. Disconnect battery before charging battery or when replacing hydraulic modulator.
  3. DO NOT drive vehicle with ABS system tester connected. Wheels and tires of matching size should only be used. Space saving (mini-spare) tires, must never be installed on vehicle.
  4. The complete testing procedure must be carried out after any work is performed on the hydraulic modulator, ABS control unit, speed sensors, or system wiring.
  5. If components such as brake lines or brake pressure regulators are replaced after a collision, the complete testing procedure must be carried out. If brake repairs DO NOT involve ABS system components, it is only necessary to perform OPERATIONAL TEST.
