Rear Axle Assembly

Removal (5000S & 5000CS Turbo)

1) Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Loosen parking brake adjusting nut. Detach right side parking brake cable.

2) Remove clips and unhook left side parking brake cable. Remove brake pressure accumulator. Leave fuel lines connected. Disconnect brake hoses and plug.

3) Detach diagonal arm retaining bolts. Remove pressure regulator spring. Support rear axle using appropriate jackstand. Remove both shock absorbers. Remove trailing arm bolts. Lower and remove axle assembly.

Bushing Replacement

Place trailing arm in press. Press bushing from arm using Bushing Removers (VW 412 and 2010). Reverse procedure to install new bushing. Align cut-outs with center axis. Larger cut-out faces front of vehicle.

Installation

To install, reverse removal procedure. Be sure to bleed brakes and adjust parking brake cable.
