Power Assist Unit: Installation

To install, reverse removal procedure. Always use new self-locking nuts and new "O" ring seal between servo and firewall bracket. Roll seal against firewall after nuts holding servo to bracket have been tightened.

CAUTION: DO NOT open lines to hydraulic servo until system pressure has been released. System operates at minimum pressure of 435 psi (30 Bar). Never step on brake pedal when master cylinder is removed from hydraulic servo.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Make sure that center line of clevis eye on operating rod is 9.8" (249 mm) from face of servo that mounts on firewall. See Figure . Servo and push rod must be in straight line with each other when measuring length.
Tighten clevis lock nut. Lightly grease clevis pin. Use new gasket at firewall and new self-locking nuts. Always use new clevis pin lock clip. Use new "O" ring between master cylinder and servo. Bleed brakes and check operation of system.
