Removal (4000S Models)
- Pry top cover from shifter if equipped with automatic transmission. Remove shifter knob if equipped with manual transmission. Remove 1 screw at back, and 2 screws at side of shifter cover. Remove shifter cover. Remove lower dash panel located below steering column.
- If necessary, turn retaining pin at upper right corner of glove box, until notch is at top and pull out pin. Remove screws, disconnect wiring and slide glove box out down and toward left side of vehicle. Remove ashtray and ashtray lid.
- Remove screws below center console panel, and pull out to remove. On Quattro models, unscrew differential lock actuating knob, remove retaining clip on back of panel and separate switch from panel.
