Systems Sentry

The warning light console uses 3 different colored indicator lights. An Amber light indicates that each of the fluid and wear levels are being monitored. A Green light indicates that fluid or wear level is okay. A Red light indicates fluid or wear level must be checked and corrected. Engine must be at normal operating temperature and on a level surface if system is to read accurately.

An electronic control module in the console analyzes signals sent by the sensors and triggers the appropriate console light. Brake, power steering, coolant and windshield washer fluid sensors are float type switches located in individual fluid reservoirs. Engine oil level sensor is in oil pan just below oil pressure sending switch. Transaxle oil sensor is located on dipstick. Disc brake sensor is in each inboard brake pad.

Brake pad wear sensor is actuated by contact with rotor surface. When pad wear allows sensor-to-rotor contact, sensor grounds against rotor which blows the 3 amp in-line fuse causing an open in the circuit. The control module will trigger the console Red warning light.
