The active charcoal filter (1) is located behind the left rear wheel well.

- (1) Fuel vapor intake from the combustible tank
- (2) Outlet for fuel vapors from the filter box behind the solenoid valve canister
When the solenoid valve canisters are closed, the fuel vapors enter the filter box inlet (1) and move downwards towards the box until they reach the active charcoal filter (4) where they are deposited. When the canisters open, controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the outside air enters the filter through the side slits (3). Under engine intake vacuum, the air pulls the vapors to rise up in the opposite direction to the filter box until they exit via the outlet (2) and are recirculated in the engine intake.
