Removal And Installation: Left

NOTE:

If the knock sensor needs to be replaced, connect the scan tool, navigate to "PCM" in the "Miscellaneous functions" menu and start the "Reset adaptive parameters" routine.

REMOVAL

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the left cylinder head fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Disconnect the left cylinder head knock sensor electric connector (1a) and release the sensor from the retaining bracket (1b) and from the retaining clip (1c).

Remove the knock sensor retaining screw (1a) and remove the sensor (1b) from the left cylinder head.

INSTALLATION

Inspect the knock sensor and wiring harness connector integrity.

Install the left cylinder head knock sensor (1a) to the cylinder head and tighten the retaining screw (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
Connect the electric connector to the left cylinder head knock sensor and engage the sensor to the retaining bracket and the retaining clip.
Install the left cylinder head fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Connect the negative battery cable.
