Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the engine belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the transmission belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler lines from the of the thermal bypass valve (1b).
  5. Slightly lower transmission to gain access to thermal bypass valve.

  6. Remove the thermal bypass valve bracket bolts (1a).
  7. Remove the thermal bypass valve.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Install the thermal bypass valve.

  2. Install the thermal bypass valve bracket bolts (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect the cooler lines to the thermal bypass valve.
  4. Fill the transmission with the specified fluid. Refer to appropriate service information .

  5. Install the transmission belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Install the engine belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
