Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Remove the upper radiator closure panel.
  2. Remove the air box. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the air box intake ducts. Refer to TUBE, INTAKE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Using the transmission cooler line disconnect tool (special tool #8875A, Disconnect, Transmission Cooler Line) (1a) disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines (1c) from the quick disconnect fittings (1b).

  5. Disconnect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) pipe (2) from the intake manifold.
  6. Remove the transmission oil line retaining bracket bolt (1) on the intake manifold.

  7. Remove the transmission oil line retaining bracket nut (1a) and remove the bracket (1b).

  8. Remove the Thermostatic Bypass Valve (TBV) bracket retaining bolt (1a).

  9. Remove the TBV retaining bracket nuts (2a) remove the mounting bracket retaining bolt (2b) and remove the brackets (2c).

  10. Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect tool (special tool #8875A, Disconnect, Transmission Cooler Line) (1a) remove the transmission fluid cooler lines (1c) from the TBV (1b).
  11. Remove the oil cooler to TBV transmission oil cooler lines (1c).

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the oil cooler to TBV transmission oil cooler lines (1c) and securely clip into place in the TBV quick connect fittings (1b).

  2. Install the TBV retaining bracket (2c) to the TBV, install the TBV bracket retaining strap and nuts (2a) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the TBV retaining bracket bolt (2b) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  4. Install the TBV bracket retaining bolt (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  5. Install the transmission oil line retaining bracket (1b) and the bracket nut (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  6. Install the transmission oil line retaining bracket and bolt (1) in the intake manifold and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Connect the EVAP pipe (2) to the intake manifold.

  8. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines (1c) to the oil cooler.
  9. Install the air box intake ducts. Refer to TUBE, INTAKE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the air box. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the upper radiator closure panel.
  12. Verify the transmission fluid is at the specified level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
