Transmission Shifter

NOTE:
The transmission shifter is equipped with an Electronic Shift Module (ESM). If the transmission shifter is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available) for the ESM.
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove Shifter bezel. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Remove the shifter mount bolts (1a) and lift the shifter mount (1b) with the shifter (1b).
- Remove the shifter nuts (1a).
- Disconnect the shifter wire harness connector (1a).
- Remove the shifter and shifter mount from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Connect the shifter wire harness connector (1a).
- Place the shifter (1a) in position and tighten the shifter nuts (1b) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Place the shifter mount with shifter (1a) in position and tighten the shifter mount bolts (1b) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the shifter bezel. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
