Transmission Shifter

NOTE:

The transmission shifter is equipped with an Electronic Shift Module (ESM). If the transmission shifter is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available) for the ESM.

REMOVAL

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Remove Shifter bezel. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Remove the shifter mount bolts (1a) and lift the shifter mount (1b) with the shifter (1b).

Remove the shifter nuts (1a).

Disconnect the shifter wire harness connector (1a).
Remove the shifter and shifter mount from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Connect the shifter wire harness connector (1a).

Place the shifter (1a) in position and tighten the shifter nuts (1b) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Place the shifter mount with shifter (1a) in position and tighten the shifter mount bolts (1b) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install the shifter bezel. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
