All Wheel Drive: Removal And Installation

REMOVAL

Raise and support the vehicle
Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the transfer case. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Remove the output shaft seal (1) with suitable screw and slide hammer.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

The seal must be installed flush with the case. Driving the seal deeper could damage the seal causing a leak.

Position the new output shaft seal (1) over the output shaft and against the transmission case.

Using (special tool #2055000090, Installer, Oil Seal) (1) install the output shaft seal (2).
Install the transfer case. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Fill the transmission with the proper fluid. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
Verify the transmission is at the correct fluid level. Refer to appropriate service information .
Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
