Left - Upstream

NOTE:

If the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle, go to "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)" in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu and start the "Adaptive Parameters Reset" procedure.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the air cleaner body and ducts. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Disconnect the wire harness connection (1) for the oxygen sensor.
  6. Disconnect the steering column shaft. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Open the retaining clips and disengage the oxygen sensor wiring.

  8. Remove the screws and remove the wiring retaining bracket.

  9. Working from the wheel compartment insert an appropriate socket (1a) on the oxygen sensor (1b).

  10. Working from the engine compartment attach a suitable extension (1a) to the previously mounted socket to unscrew and remove the front left oxygen sensor from the catalytic converter (1b).

INSTALLATION 

  1. Position the front left oxygen sensor in its housing before the catalytic converter and tighten it to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
  2. Place the oxygen sensor wiring retaining bracket back in its housing and tighten the related screws.
  3. Engage the oxygen sensor wiring in the respective retaining clips.
  4. Connect the wire harness connection of the oxygen sensor.
  5. Connect the steering column shaft. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Install the air cleaner body and ducts. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
