REMOVAL
NOTE:
If the fuel rail or the injectors are replaced, connect the diagnosis equipment to the vehicle diagnosis socket, go to "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)" in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu and start the following procedures: fuel feed system component replacement; adaptive parameter reset.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the right side high pressure fuel line. Refer to
LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1a), remove the fitting (1b) and position the low-pressure fuel piping aside (1c).
- Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the screw and remove the bracket with the connector.
- Remove the fuel pressure sensor (1).
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) for the injectors.
- Remove the screws (2a) and remove the right fuel rail (2b) with the fuel injectors (2c).
- Remove the fuel injectors (1) from the right fuel rail.NOTE:
The O-rings (a) and injector seal (b) must be replaced once they have been removed. The O-rings and injector seals should never be reused.
INSTALLATION
- Install the NEW O-rings on each injector. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Apply a small amount of engine oil to each fuel injector O-ring. This will help with the fuel injector and fuel rail installation.
- Place the fuel injectors in their housings on the right fuel rail, making sure that the fuel injector tooth fits properly in its housing on the fuel manifold pipe.
- Place the left fuel rail (1a) in its housing and tighten the screws (1b) in the following sequence:
- Center 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Rear 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Front 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Connect the wire harness connections for the injectors (2).
- Place the fuel pressure sensor (1) in position and tighten it to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
- Place the bracket with the connector in its housing and securely tighten the screw.
- Connect the wire harness connection for the fuel pressure sensor.
- Place the low-pressure fuel piping (1a) back in its housing, tighten the fitting (1b) to the proper and connect the quick coupling (1c). Refer to appropriate service information .
- Install the right side high pressure fuel line. Refer to LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
