REMOVAL
NOTE:
If the fuel rail or the injectors are replaced, connect the diagnosis equipment to the vehicle diagnosis socket, go to "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)" in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu and start the following procedures: fuel feed system component replacement; adaptive parameter reset.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the left side high pressure fuel line. Refer to
LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the fitting (1a) and move the low-pressure fuel piping (1b) aside.
- Detach the fuel pressure sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the screw and remove the bracket with the connector (2).
- Remove the fuel pressure sensor (1).
- Disconnect the wire harness connections (1) for the injectors.
- Remove the screws (2a) and remove the left fuel rail (2b) with the injectors (2c).
- Remove the injectors (1) from the left fuel rail.NOTE:
The O-rings (a) and injector seal (b) must be replaced once they have been removed. The O-rings and injector seals should never be reused.
INSTALLATION
- Install the NEW O-rings on each injector. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Apply a small amount of engine oil to each fuel injector O-ring. This will help with the fuel injector and fuel rail installation.
- Place the fuel injectors in their housings on the left fuel rail, making sure that the fuel injector tooth fits properly in its housing on the fuel manifold pipe.
- Place the left fuel rail (1a) in its housing and tighten the screws (1b) in the following sequence:
- Center 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Rear 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Front 5 N.m (44 In lbs.) then 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.)
- Connect the wire harness connections (2) for the injectors.
- Place the fuel pressure sensor in position and tighten it to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
- Place the bracket with the connector in its housing and securely tighten the screw.
- Connect the wire harness connection for the fuel pressure sensor.
- Connect the low pressure fuel piping (1a) and tighten the fitting (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
- Install the left side high pressure fuel line. Refer to LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
