Removal And Installation: Right

REMOVAL 

  1. Perform the fuel system pressure release. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the right side intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the fastener and remove fuel pump cover.
  5. Remove the right side high pressure fuel line. Refer to LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Disconnect the right side fuel pressure regulator wire harness connector (1).
  7. Remove the connector bracket retaining screws (2).
  8. Remove the low pressure fuel pipe (3).
  9. Remove the right pressure pump to the tappet cover screws (4).

  10. Remove the right cylinder head pressure pump (1a) complete with O-ring (1b).
    NOTE:

    Handle the pressure pump with care because accidental knocks could compromise operation.

  11. If necessary, open the clips (1a), disengage the bracket retainer (1b) and remove the bracket.

  12. Remove the roller tappet (1) using a suitable tool.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Place the roller tappet back in its housing.
  2. Place the right cylinder head pressure pump in its housing complete with a new O-ring.
    NOTE:

    Handle the pressure pump with care because accidental knocks could compromise operation.

  3. Tighten the screws (1) securing the right high pressure fuel pump to the tappet cover to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
  4. Connect the low pressure fuel line (2) to the right pressure pump and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
  5. Securely tighten the wire harness bracket retaining screws (3).
  6. Connect the wire harness connector (4) to the right fuel pressure regulator.
  7. Install the right side high pressure fuel line. Refer to appropriate service information LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install fuel pump cover.
  9. Install the right side intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
