High Pressure - Left

REMOVAL
- Perform the fuel system pressure release. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner body and ducts. Refer to
BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Release the clip (1a) and disconnect the quick connector for the fuel vapor inlet pipe to the right intake manifold (1b).
- Release the clip (2a) and disconnect the quick connector for the fuel vapor inlet pipe to the left intake manifold (2b).
- Remove the screws (1a) and move the sound generator (1b) aside.
- Disconnect the wire harness connection (1) for the right cylinder head fuel pressure regulator sensor.
- Remove the screws (2a), disconnect the oil vapor diverter valve (2b) from the intake manifold and move it aside complete with pipes.
- Remove the screw (1a) securing the water return pipe support bracket from the heater (1b).
- Remove the screws (1a) and disconnect the water return pipes to the thermostat (1b) along with the degassing pipe (1c).
- Remove the screw (2) and move the electric connection support bracket of the right cylinder head fuel pressure sensor.
- Move the previously disconnected pipes aside.
- Remove the fitting (1a) on the high pressure fuel supply pipe (1b) on pressure pump side.
- Remove the screw (2) securing the high pressure fuel pipe to the intake manifold.
- Remove the fitting (1a) on fuel manifold side and remove the high pressure pipe from the pressure pump to the single fuel manifold (1b).NOTE:
A new high pressure pipe must be used, once removed.
INSTALLATION
- Place a NEW
high pressure pipe from the pressure pump to the left cylinder head fuel manifold pipe (1a) back in its housing and tighten the fitting (1b) on fuel manifold side to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information
.
- Tighten the fitting (1b) on pressure pump side to the high pressure fuel pipe (1a) to the proper torque specification. Refer to appropriate service information .
- Securely tighten the screw (2) retaining the high pressure fuel pipe to the intake manifold.
- Install the left cylinder head fuel pressure sensor connector retaining bracket in its housing and securely tighten the screw.
- Connect the coolant return pipes to the thermostat provided with a new O-ring with the degassing pipe and securely tighten the fasteners.
- Securely tighten the coolant return pipe support bracket retaining screw.
- Place the oil vapor diverter valve complete with new O-ring back in its housing and securely tighten the screws.
- Connect the electrical connection for the right cylinder head fuel pressure regulator sensor.
- Place the sound generator in its housing and securely tighten the respective fastening screws.
- Connect the quick connectors of the fuel vapor supply pipes to the right and left intake manifolds and engage the respective retaining clips.
- Install the air cleaner body and ducts. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
