Left Side

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the powertrain assembly and suspension crossmember from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the engine and transmission from the suspension crossmember. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the left side turbocharger heat shield. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the left turbocharger exhaust gas outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the left turbocharger oil supply line. Refer to LINES, TUBES AND HOSES, TURBOCHARGER, OIL AND COOLANT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Remove the bolts (1a) and the turbocharger engine oil return pipe (1b), with gaskets.

  9. Remove the bolts (1a), (1b) and remove the turbocharger air inlet and outlet pipes, complete with gaskets.

  10. Loosen the clamp (1) and disconnect the vacuum hose from the waste-gate actuator.

  11. Remove the nuts (1a) and remove the left turbocharger and exhaust manifold assembly (1b) from the cylinder head, complete with gaskets (1c).

  12. Place the turbocharger and left exhaust manifold assembly in the vice, complete with protective jaws, unscrew the nuts (1a) and remove the exhaust gas outlet connector from the turbocharger (1b).

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the exhaust gas outlet connector to the turbocharger (1a) and tighten the new nuts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Remove the left turbocharger and exhaust manifold assembly from the vice.

  3. Install the turbocharger and left exhaust manifold assembly (1a), complete with gaskets and tighten the new nuts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the waste-gate actuator vacuum flexible hose and tighten the clamp (1).

  5. Install the air inlet and outlet pipes to the turbocharger, complete with gaskets, and tighten the bolts (1a) and (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  6. Install the turbocharger engine oil return pipe (1a) complete with gasket, and tighten the bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the left turbocharger oil supply line. Refer to LINES, TUBES AND HOSES, TURBOCHARGER, OIL AND COOLANT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the left turbocharger exhaust gas outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the left side turbocharger heat shield. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the engine and transmission to the suspension crossmember. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the powertrain assembly and suspension crossmember to the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
