Left Side

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the left camshaft. Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

2. Remove the bolt (1a), the forked flange (1b) and disconnect the turbocharger (1c) water supply and return pipes, complete with O-ring.

3. Remove the bolt (1a) and disconnect the engine oil supply pipe to the turbocharger (1b), complete with O-ring.

4. Remove the bolt (1a) and disconnect the engine side engine oil return pipe from the turbocharger (1b) complete with O-ring.

5. Remove the nuts (1a) and the turbocharger (1b) complete with pipes.
6. Remove the gasket.

7. Remove the bolts (1a) and the left cylinder head timing chain fixed pad (1b).

8. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the fuel pressure sensor wire harness connector retaining bracket to the engine block.

9. Remove the fuel pressure sensor (1).

10. Remove the banjo bolt (1a) and disconnect the degassing pipe (1b), complete with copper gasket.

11. Remove the nuts (1a) and the left cylinder head (1b).

12. Remove the left cylinder head gasket (1).
13. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces. Refer to appropriate service information .

INSTALLATION 

1. Install a NEW  left cylinder head gasket.
2. Install the left cylinder head.
3. Dry fit the washers with the ground parts in contact with the cylinder head.
4. Lubricate the cylinder head nuts (M12 x 1.25) threads, their lower parts and the stud side, with Molycote® BR2 grease.
5. Install the nuts securing the cylinder head to the engine block, without tightening them.

6. Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten the central nuts (1-2-3-4) and the outside nuts (5-6-7-8) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

7. Using NEW  copper gaskets, install the cylinder head degassing pipe (1a) and tighten the banjo bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
8. Install the fuel pressure sensor and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
9. Install the fuel pressure sensor connector retaining bracket and tighten the bolt securing it to the engine block to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

10. Install the fixed pad of the left head timing chain (1a) and tighten the bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
11. Install a NEW  exhaust manifold gasket.

12. Using NEW  nuts, install the turbocharger assembly complete with pipes and tighten the nuts finger tight.
13. Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten the NEW  nuts to proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

14. Using a NEW  O-ring, install the engine side turbocharger engine oil return pipe (1a) and tighten the bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

15. Using a NEW  gasket and NEW  O-ring, install the engine oil supply pipe to the turbocharger (1a) and tighten the bolt (1b), to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

16. Using a NEW  O-ring, install the turbocharger water supply and return pipes (1a), and the forked flange (1b). Tighten the bolt (1c) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
17. Install the left camshaft. Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
