Thermostat Support

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the high temperature (HT) cooling system. Refer to COOLING/STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the left side cylinder head intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the right throttle body. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Remove the automatic transmission cooling lines bracket bolt (1).
  7. Disconnect the quick coupling (2) and move the fuel vapor hose to one side.

  8. Disconnect the right fuel pressure sensor electrical connection (1).

  9. Remove the bolt (1a) and remove the right fuel pressure sensor electrical connection support bracket (1b).

  10. Remove the bolts (1a) and move the oil vapor hose (1b) to one side.

  11. Remove the thermostat coolant return pipes mounting bracket bolt (1).

  12. Remove the bolts (1a) and disconnect the thermostat coolant return pipes (1b) and the degassing pipe (1c) from the thermostat support.

  13. Remove the waste-gate solenoid valve vacuum pipe bolt (1).
  14. Remove the union bolt (2a) and the degassing pipe (2b) from the thermostat support.

  15. Remove the union bolt (1a) and the degassing pipe (1b) from the right cylinder head and move it to one side.

  16. Loosen band clamp (1a) and remove the radiator water supply hose (1b).

  17. Disconnect the air temperature sensor electrical connection.

  18. Remove the left-hand side thermostat support bolts (1).

  22. Remove the bolts (1a) and disconnect the pump coolant inlet connector (1b) from the thermostat support.

  23. Disconnect the thermostat electrical connection (1).
  24. Remove the thermostat support (2a) complete with seal (2b).

  25. If required, remove the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (1).
  26. Remove the bolts (2a) and remove the thermostat (2b).

INSTALLATION 

  1. Inspect the O-rings for damage.

  2. Install the thermostat (1a) and securely tighten the bolts (1b).
  3. Install the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (2) and tighten it to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the thermostat support (1a) complete with seal (1b).
  5. connect the thermostat electrical connection (2).

  6. Install the pump coolant inlet connector (1a) to the thermostat support and tighten the bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Tighten the center thermostat support bolt (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  8. Tighten the rear thermostat support bolts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Tighten the right-hand side thermostat support bolts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  10. Tighten the left-hand side thermostat support bolts (1) to the proper. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  11. Connect the air temperature sensor electrical connection (1).

  12. Install the radiator water supply hose (1a) and tighten the band clamp (1b).

  13. Install the degassing hose (1a) on the right cylinder head and tighten the union bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  14. Install the degassing pipe (1a) on the thermostat support and tighten the union bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  15. Install and securely tighten the waste-gate solenoid valve vacuum pipe bolt (2).

  16. Connect the thermostat coolant return pipes (1a) and the degassing pipe (1b) to the thermostat support and securely tighten the screws (1c).

  17. Install and securely tighten the thermostat coolant return pipes mounting bracket bolt (1).

  18. Install the oil vapor hose (1a) and securely tighten the bolts (1b).

  19. Install the right fuel pressure sensor electrical connection support bracket (1a) and securely tighten the bolt (1b).

  20. Connect the right fuel pressure sensor electrical connection (1).

  21. Connect the quick coupling (1) for the fuel vapor hose.
  22. Install and securely tighten the automatic transmission cooling lines bracket bolt (2).
  23. Install the right throttle body. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  24. Install the left side cylinder head intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  25. Fill the hight temperature (HT) cooling system. Refer to COOLING/STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  26. Connect the negative battery cable.
  27. Remove the support and lower he vehicle.
