Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read ABS DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Cycle the ignition from off to on.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Push the EPB Switch down to release the Electric Parking Brakes.
- Push the EPB Switch up to set the Electric Parking Brakes.
- Push the EPB Switch down to release the Electric Parking Brakes.
- Release the brake pedal.
- Cycle the ignition from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read ABS DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK CONNECTIONS ON THE HANDBRAKE ENGAGEMENT BUTTON AND ABS CONTROL UNIT
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the hand brake engagement button or on the ABS control unit.
Are there any loose or damaged connections?
Yes
- Repair the wiring connections as necessary.
No
- Go to Step Refer to 3.
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the hand brake engagement button or on the ABS control unit.
- CHECK WIRING BETWEEN THE HANDBRAKE ENGAGEMENT BUTTON AND ABS CONTROL UNIT
- Check for a short circuit to battery voltage in the wiring between the handbrake engagement button and PIN 38 of connector A of the ABS control unit.
Is there a short circuit to battery in the wiring?
Yes
- Repair the wiring and connections as necessary insulation to the battery.
No
- The wiring or poor connection problem has been repaired.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check for a short circuit to battery voltage in the wiring between the handbrake engagement button and PIN 38 of connector A of the ABS control unit.
