Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
3. With the scan tool, read the Amplifier (AMP) DTCs.
  Is the DTC active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To Step 2.
  No
  - Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
CHECK THE LEFT REAR DOOR AND LEFT REAR DOOR TWEETER SPEAKER ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the Left Rear Door Speaker, Left Rear Door Tweeter and on the AMP.
  Is there a loose pin or poor connection present?
  
  Yes
  - Repair or replace the wiring connectors as necessary.
  No
  - Go to Step 3.
CHECK THE (X303) AND (X393) LEFT REAR DOOR AND LEFT REAR DOOR TWEETER SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
1. Measure the resistance of the (X303) Left Rear Door and Left Rear Door Tweeter (+) circuits between the Speaker connectors and the AMP harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the (X393) Left Rear Door and Left Rear Door Tweeter (-) circuits between the Speaker connectors and the AMP harness connector.
  Is the resistance above 3.0 ohms?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the Left Rear Door and Left Rear Door Tweeter circuit(s) for an open or high resistance.
  No
  - Go to Step 4.
CHECK THE LEFT REAR DOOR SPEAKER
1. Replace the Left Rear Door Speaker in accordance with Service Information. Refer to SPEAKER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. With the scan tool, erase the AMP DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition off then on.
4. With the scan tool, read the AMP DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Go to Step 5.
  No
  - Test Complete.
CHECK THE LEFT REAR DOOR TWEETER SPEAKER
1. Replace the Left Rear Door Tweeter Speaker in accordance with Service Information. Refer to SPEAKER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. With the scan tool, erase the AMP DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition off then on.
4. With the scan tool, read the AMP DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Go to Step 6.
  No
  - Test Complete.
CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
1. Disconnect all AMP Module harness connectors.
2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
  - Proper connector installation.
  - Damaged connector locks.
  - Corrosion.
  - Other signs of water intrusion.
  - Weather seal damage (if equipped).
  - Bent terminals.
  - Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
  - Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
  - Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
  Repair any conditions that are found.
5. Reconnect all AMP Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
6. Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
7. Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
9. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
10. With the scan tool, read AMP Module DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the AMP Module in accordance with the Service information. Refer to AMPLIFIER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  - Test complete.
