Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). This will confirm that the module is updated to the latest applicable software level.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Fully lower and extend out the steering wheel.

Working under the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), detach the closeout (1a) by releasing its inner retainers (1b, 1c), with a suitable tool.

Remove the two IPC to instrument panel screws (1a).

Gently remove the IPC (1a), by releasing the upper retainers (1b).
Disconnect the IPC wire harness connector (2) and remove the IPC (1a).
