Theory Of Operation

The backup camera system displays the area behind the vehicle on the 6.5" or 8" screen when the gear selector is in Reverse. The image is displayed with lines representing the space occupied by the vehicle which are automatically adapted to the steering wheel rotation. The rear camera, which is located near the license plate, produces a high resolution image to alert the driver of any obstacles behind the vehicle. The system uses steering angle information transmitted from the electric power steering gear assembly to manipulate the lines in the display.

The rear camera receives power, ground, and a LIN bus feed from the body control module (BCM). The camera outputs a video signal to the Radio/Entertainment Telematics Module (ETM).
