12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (3.0L Engine): Removal

NOTICE:

When working with a vehicle equipped with the electronic air suspension, be sure to set it to the leveling off mode to prevent unexpected operation. Refer to the Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions - Refer to: Electronic Air Suspension System Connector Fitting Precautions or Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions for the procedure.

NOTE:

With the driver's door open, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, wait at least 3 minutes before disconnecting the 12 volt negative battery cable.
Canada models: When turning the vehicle to the ON mode for the first time after the 12 volt battery is reconnected, turn the vehicle to the ON mode while depressing the brake pedal for the immobilizer mutual authentication between the body control module and the VSA modulator-control unit.
When disconnecting the 12 volt battery terminal, always disconnect the negative side first.
If the 12 volt battery performs abnormally, test the 12 volt battery - Refer to: 12 Volt Battery Internal Resistance Reset or 12 Volt Battery Test (3.0L Engine) or 12 Volt Battery Test (3.5L Engine) .

12 Volt Battery Terminals - Disconnect

1. Make sure the vehicle is in the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect and isolate the 12 volt battery sensor (a) with the cable (b) from the 12 volt battery (c).

NOTICE: To protect the 12 volt battery sensor connector (d) from damage, do not hold it when removing the terminal (e).

NOTE:

Do not disconnect the 12 volt battery sensor from the cable.

3. Open the positive terminal cover (f).

4. Disconnect the terminal (g) from the 12 volt battery.
