SRS System Description - Front Passenger's Weight Sensor

The front passenger seat is equipped with seat weight sensors to detect the presence and size of the occupant in order to tailor passenger side front airbag deployment and performance. The weight sensors are located between the seat track and the seat cushion frame. If the sensors detect an empty front passenger seat, the front passenger's airbag is disabled. If the weight sensors detect a front passenger above approximately 66 pounds (30 kg), normal passenger front airbag operation is allowed. If the sensors detect the weight of an infant or small child weighing up to about 66 lbs (30 kg), the system will automatically turn the passenger's front airbag off and indicate the Front Passenger's Airbag Cutoff Indicator.
