SRS - Side Airbag Cutoff Indicator Stays "On"
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.
- System check 1
-1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.
-2. Make sure the seat-back is dry.
-3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and see if the SRS indicator comes on.
Does the SRS indicator come on and stay on?
YES
Go to Symptom Troubleshooting "SRS indicator stays on, but no DTCs are stored, or cannot be read" .
NO
Go to step 2.
- Body electrical system DTC check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Check for body electrical DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC U0151 Gauge control module lost communication with SRS unit Is DTC U0151 indicated?
YES
Go to DTC U0151 troubleshooting .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Gauge control module check
-1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .

Does the side airbag cutoff indicator blinkΩ
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
- System check 2
-1. Do the ODS unit initialization (USA and Canada models) .

-2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and see if the side airbag cutoff indicator comes on.
Does the side airbag cutoff indicator come on and stay on?
YES
Replace the seat-back cover/pad equipped with an OPDS sensor , and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the SRS unit .
NO
The vehicle is OK at this time.
