Audio-Navigation System DTC: 1204 (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022)

DTC 1204  : HDD High Temp

NOTE: 

• Check the vehicle battery condition first .
• This navigation DTC sets when the internal temperature of the navigation ECU (HDD) rises above 158 F (70 C). The audio-navigation unit is designed to shut down to protect the navigation ECU. This could be caused by an inoperative audio-navigation unit cooling fan or if the dash temperature exceeds the maximum. Do the troubleshooting when the unit is within the allowable temperature range.
• Check that the cooling fan screen on the back of the audio-navigation unit is not blocked. Clean it if necessary.
• If the center display unit displays an error message when you turn on the navigation system, follow the instructions .
• Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
• Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information .

1. Problem verification

   -1. Check that the temperature is below 158 F (70 C) in the dash.

   -2. Clear the hard error codes .

   -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

   -4. Check for hard error codes .

   Is DTC 1204 indicated?

   YES 

   Replace the audio-navigation unit .

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check the audio-navigation unit cooling fan on the back of the audio-navigation unit.
