- F-CAN circuit resistance check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (49P) -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode PCM connector A (49P): disconnected Test circuit F CAN-H, F CAN-L Test point 1 PCM connector A (49P) No. 3 (WHT) Test point 2 PCM connector A (49P) No. 4 (RED) Is there about 82-103 Ω?
YES
Go to step 10
NO
Go to step 2.
- Shorted wire check (F CAN-H line to F CAN-L line):
Disconnect the following connectors:
- Gauge control module 32P connector
- VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector
- Steering angle sensor 4P connector
- EPS control unit connector A (11P)
- ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector
- Power control unit connector B (32P)
- SRS unit connector A (39P)
- TPMS control unit 36P connector (USA and Mexico models)
-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode PCM connector A (49P): disconnected Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector: disconnected Steering angle sensor 4P connector: disconnected EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected Power control unit connector B (32P): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected TPMS control unit 36P connector (USA and Mexico models): disconnected Test circuit F CAN-H, F CAN-L Test point 1 PCM connector A (49P) No. 3 (WHT) Test point 2 PCM connector A (49P) No. 4 (RED) Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the F CAN-H wire to F CAN-L wire between PCM terminals A3 and A4.
NO
The F CAN-H and F CAN-L wires are not shorted. Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (F CAN-H line) 1
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

-1. Reconnect VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector .
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode PCM connector A (49P): disconnected Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected Steering angle sensor 4P connector: disconnected EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected Power control unit connector B (32P): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected TPMS control unit 36P connector (USA and Mexico models): disconnected Test circuit F CAN-H, F CAN-L Test point 1 PCM connector A (49P) No. 3 (WHT) Test point 2 PCM connector A (49P) No. 4 (RED) Is there about 108-132 Ω?
YES
The VSA modulator-control unit is OK. Go to step 10.
NO

- ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

NO
The F CAN-H wire is OK. Go to step 11.

Repair a short in the F CAN-H wire between the PCM (A4) and the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the steering angle sensor, the EPS control unit, the ANC/active sound control unit, the power control unit, the SRS unit, the TPMS control unit, or the DLC.
NO
The F CAN-L wire is OK. Go to step 12.
- Gauge control module check
-1. Reconnect all connectors.
-2. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module 32P connector -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the gauge control module .
NO
Go to step 13.
- VSA modulator-control unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the gauge control module 32P connector .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the VSA modulator-control unit .
NO
Go to step 14.
- Steering angle sensor check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
Steering angle sensor 4P connector -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the steering angle sensor .
NO
Go to step 15.
- EPS control unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the steering angle sensor 4P connector .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector A (11P) -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the EPS control unit .
NO
Go to step 16.
- ANC/active sound control unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the EPS control unit connector A (11P) .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the ANC/active sound control unit .
NO
Go to step 17.
- Power control unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
Power control unit connector B (32P) -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the power control unit .
NO
Go to step 18.
- SRS unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the power control unit connector B (32P) .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
NO (Canada models)
Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM .
NO (USA and Mexico models)
Go to step 19.
- TPMS control unit check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect the SRS unit connector A (39P) .
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
TPMS control unit 36P connector -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and read the HDS.
Does the HDS identify the vehicle?
YES
Replace the TPMS control unit .
NO
Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM .
