    Do the following before starting your work.

    • Removal 

    NOTE: Due to the high temperatures of the exhaust system, the exhaust nuts, studs, and bolts may seize preventing easy removal. If you encounter a seized condition, do the following.

    1. Apply rust penetrant to the nut/stud or bolt.

    2. Allow the penetrant to sit. The amount of time may vary.

    3. Lightly tap the nut/stud or bolt with a hammer.

    4. Slowly loosen the nut or bolt.

    5. If the nut or bolt still will not loosen, repeat steps 1 to 4.

    • Installation 

    • Loosely install all bolts and nuts by hand, then tighten the bolts and nuts as sequence shown.

    • Installation 

    Lubricant Specifications 

    Application Position Type
    a: Threads and Flange Engine Oil

    1. Tighten the bolt (a) and the bolt (b) until the oil feed pipe sits on the turbocharger and the engine block.

    2. Tighten the bolt (b) to the specified torque.

    3. Set the washer portion (c) to the direction (d).

    4. Tighten the bolt (a) to the specified torque.

    5. Make sure the washer is positioned within area (e) as shown.

    NOTE: For the removal and installation procedure, refer to Turbocharger Removal and Installation and the sub-procedure below.

    • Removal/Installation 

    NOTE:
    • Hold the turbocharger at an area other than the turbocharger wastegate control actuator (a).
    • Tighten the bolts and nuts in the numbered sequence shown.

    ■ After Installation
