Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test: Test

NOTE:

Refer to the Fuel and Emissions Systems Service Precautions before doing the procedure.
Check for DTCs with the HDS. If any of the following DTCs are indicated, troubleshoot the indicated DTCs. If the PGM-FI system's DTC and the body electrical system's DTC are indicated at the same time, troubleshoot the PGM-FI system's DTC first.
- PGM-FI system: P0462, P0463
- Body electrical system: B1175, B1176

Fuel Gauge Sending Unit - Test 1

■ Preconditions

■ Procedure/Specifications

Measure the resistance with the float at A (EMPTY), B (LOW FUEL INDICATOR), and C (FULL) positions at the following terminals.

Measurement Terminal

Connector: (Male terminals)
No. 2 - No. 4

Normal Conditions

■ Result

If the measurement is not within specifications, replace the fuel gauge sending unit .

Fuel Gauge Sending Unit - Test 2

■ Preconditions

■ Procedure/Specifications

1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

2. Check that the pointer of the fuel gauge displayed on the gauge control module indicates "F" with both floats at F.

Float Position: F

Specifications
NOTE: With both float positions at the following specifications, the pointer of the fuel gauge should indicate "F".
Fuel Tank Unit	172.5 mm (6.791 in) (A)
Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit	213.2 mm (8.394 in) (B)

Normal Conditions

Specifications
The pointer of the fuel gauge indicate "F".
