SRS DTC 85-61, 85-62 (KA, KC models)

DTC 85-61  : No Signal From the ODS Unit DTC 85-62  : Incorrect Data From the ODS Unit

NOTE:

85-62 Incorrect data from the ODS unit  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    DTC Description DTC
    85-61 No signal from the ODS unit  
    85-62 Incorrect data from the ODS unit  

    Is DTC 85-61 or 85-62 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Fuse check

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. B29 (7.5 A)
    Location Under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, then press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the under-dash fuse/relay box No. B29 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness, floor wire harness, or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box , then clear the DTC.

  3. Connector connection check 1

    -1. From under the front passenger's seat, check the connection of the connector (A) between the floor wire harness and the front passenger's seat wire harness.

    Is the connector OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. System check 1

    -1. Repair the poor connector connection which was the cause of the problem in step 3.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    85-61 No signal from the ODS unit  
    85-62 Incorrect data from the ODS unit  

    Is DTC 85-61 or 85-62 indicated?

    YES 

    Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then go to step 5.

    NO 

    The system is OK at this time.

  5. Connector connection check 2

    -1. From under the front passenger's seat cushion, release the elastic strap from the seat cushion frame springs .

    -2. Release the bottom hooks, and unzip the seat-back cover .

    -3. Turn over the seat-back cover/pad to gain access to the ODS unit .

    -4. Remove the cover (A), then check the connection between the ODS unit 18P connector (B) and the ODS unit.

    Is the connector OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. System check 2

    -1. Repair the poor connector connection which was the cause of the problem in step 5.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    DTC Description DTC
    85-61 No signal from the ODS unit  
    85-62 Incorrect data from the ODS unit  

    Is DTC 85-61 or 85-62 indicated?

    YES 

    Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then go to step 7.

    NO 

    The system is OK at this time.

  7. Open wire check (VA line)

    -1. Remove the clip (A), then disconnect the ODS unit 18P connector (B) from the ODS unit.

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
    ODS unit 18P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit VA
    Test point 1 ODS unit 18P connector No. 7 (GRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The VA wire is OK. Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness, the front passenger's seat wire harness, or faulty under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the faulty harness or the under-dash fuse/relay box , then clear the DTC.

  8. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    ODS unit 18P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 ODS unit 18P connector No. 18 (YEL)

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; check for a poor ground at G602. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

  9. Shorted wire check (ODS line)

    -1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (39P)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    ODS unit 18P connector: disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit ODS
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 21
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?

    YES 

    The ODS wire is not shorted. Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Short to ground in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

  10. Open wire check (ODS line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    ODS unit 18P connector: disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit ODS
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 21
    Test point 2 ODS unit 18P connector No. 1 (BLU)

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The ODS wire is not open. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    Open in the harness between SRS unit connector B (39P) terminal No. 21 and ODS unit 18P connector terminal No. 1 (floor wire harness or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

  11. Shorted wire check (ODS line to power)

    -1. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
    ODS unit 18P connector: disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit ODS
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 21
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 0.2 V or less?

    YES 

    The ODS wire is OK. Go to step 12.

    NO 

    Short to power in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

  12. System check 3

    -1. Replace the ODS unit .

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    85-61 No signal from the ODS unit  
    85-62 Incorrect data from the ODS unit  

    Is DTC 85-61 or 85-62 indicated?

    YES 

    Replace the SRS unit .

    NO 

    The system is OK at this time.
