DTC B0072-11

DTC B0072-11  : Short to Ground in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Tensioner

DTC Description DTC
B0072-11 Short to ground in the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    B0072-11 Short to ground in the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

    Is DTC B0072-11 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Shorted wire check (RRP+, RRP- lines) 1

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (39P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit RRP+
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 17
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit RRP-
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 18
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?

    YES 

    The RRP+ and RRP- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Shorted wire check (RRP+, RRP- lines) 2

    -1. Remove the right side B-pillar lower trim .

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (on the floor wire harness)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Front passenger's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    Test circuit RRP+
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 17
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit RRP-
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 18
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?

    YES 

    The RRP+ and RRP- wires are OK. Short to ground in the front passenger's seat belt tensioner; replace the front passenger's seat belt , then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    Short to ground in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
