DTC B0052-13

DTC B0052-13  : Open or Increased Resistance in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch

DTC Description DTC
B0052-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    DTC Description DTC
    B0052-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch  

    Is DTC B0052-13 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness.

    -3. Without power seat: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
    Terminal B Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)

    -4. With power seat: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
    Terminal B Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)

    -5. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B0052-11 Short or decreased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch  

    Is DTC B0052-11 indicated?

    YES 

    Open in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly , then clear the DTC.

    NO (with power seat) 

    Go to step 5.

    NO (without power seat) 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Open wire check (FRBC line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the jumper wire from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector on the floor wire harness.

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (39P)

    -5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the floor wire harness)
    Test point 2 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 22

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The FRBC wire is OK. Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.

  4. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the floor wire harness)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness; check for a poor ground at G602. If the ground is OK, replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.

  5. Open wire check (FRBC/WARNING SRS UNIT line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the jumper wire from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector on the front passenger's seat wire harness.

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (39P)

    -5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
    Test point 2 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 22

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The FRBC/WARNING SRS UNIT wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

  6. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
    Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness.

    NO 

    Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; check for a poor ground at G602. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
