Wipers/Washers (MICU) (2013 2014 2015)

NOTE: 

1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

2. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors B, C, D, T, and W

.NOTE:  All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired resultis not obtained
C22 BLU Under all conditions Connect terminals D1 and C28, and terminal C22 to body ground with jumper wires:The windshield wiper motor should run at high speed.
  • Blown No. A1-5 (30 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty windshield wiper main relay
  • Faulty relay circuit board
  • Faulty windshield wiper motor
  • Poor ground (G401) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
T6.T15 BLU.BLK Windshield wiper/washer switch (Intermittent dwell time controller) turned ON. Measure the resistance between terminals T6 and T15:The resistance should vary between 0 to 1 kΩ.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
  • A short to ground in the wire
C32 PUR Run the windshield wiper motor by connecting terminals D1 and C28, and terminal C22 and body ground with jumper wires. Connect terminal C32 to body ground with a jumper wire:The windshield wiper motor speed should change from high speed to low speed.
  • Faulty windshield wiper motor
  • Faulty windshield wiper high/low relay
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C15 ORN Under all conditions Connect terminals D1 and C15 with jumper wires:The windshield washer motor should run.
  • Faulty windshield washer motor
  • Poor ground (G201) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C23 WHT Run the windshield wiper motor by connecting terminals D1 and C28, and terminal C22 and body ground with jumper wires. Use a DVOM to check for continuity to ground.

NOTE:  There is no needle on a DVOM.

  • Faulty windshield wiper motor
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
C28 WHT Power mode ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. B6 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C8 WHT Power mode ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. A26 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty windshield washer motor relay
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
W6 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
B32 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G602)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D6 LT GRN Brake pedal pressed Measure the voltage to ground:There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. A17 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Brake pedal released Measure the voltage to ground:There should be no voltage.
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
  • A short to power in the wire
T16.T15 ORN.BLK Windshield wiper/washer switch (INT or LO) ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Windshield wiper/washer switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
T18.T15 GRN.BLK Windshield wiper/washer switch (MIST) ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Windshield wiper/washer switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
T17.T15 WHT.BLK Windshield wiper/washer switch (LO or HI) ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Windshield wiper/washer switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

T19.T15 YEL.BLK Windshield washer switch ON Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Windshield washer switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty windshield wiper/washer switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
D23 * GRN Transmission range switch in P Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty or improperly adjusted transmission range switch
  • Poor ground (G101) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Transmission range switch in any other position than P Measure the voltage to ground:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty or improperly adjusted transmission range switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
